Default No start, no crank. Nada.

Out of nowhere, my 88 just would not start. Figured it was battery. Tested fine with a voltmeter. Need to have it load tested i'm guessing too. According to the helms I checked all the connections to make sure they were fine, Seemed OK. Didn't have to time to check the starter which was next. Just wanted to ask the experts here and make sure I was not chasing the wrong problem.

Lights come on on the dash. Turn the key and they go out. No start, no tick, tick, tick. The fuel pump doesn't prime either. Just replaced the main relay about a year ago with OEM. Could that be the problem again or do you think its the starter? Threads here and the helms lead me to believe starter.

thanks.

Could be the starter, or a bad ground most likely thermostat housing ground.

wouldnt be the thermostat ground that blew my friends starter from being loose it would be the tranny ground the one coming from the negative battery terminal ive had this problem before

This is what I was thinking too. I didn't really get too into it because of time and light outside. Gives me something to do tomorrow to try and be a productive member of society.

Did you just replace the cable or clean it up?

Well where the cable bolts onto the tranny was stripped I just flattened the little cable out and bolted it onto another part on the clutch cable tensioner nice and tight
