1991 civic dx blowing white smoke
okay so i just bought a 91 dx automatic for winter. i had to rea attach the exhaust and it need inspected. i put the exhaust back on and its blowing white smoke. when i rev it makes a cloud. it doesnt smell like antifreeze and the car doesnt overheat. it just smells like normal stinky exhaust any ideas?
What fluids are you burning? Oil? Water? Too much fuel (Bad fuel consumption)?
If its white it's water, so be sure to continually check your coolant levels. However it could be a combination of fluids that you're burning and that's why it's difficult to discern what fluid is being burnt.

I'm not up on honda automatics, but with chevy and ford automatics if you have a cloud of white smoke coming out the exhaust it is because there is a leak in the vacuum shift module on the transmission which allows transmission oil to be sucked up through the vacuum line into the intake manifold and burned in the cylinders.

i pressure washed the whole bay out, i havnt seen any leaks around the headgasket at all.. i did notice the fan isnt kicking on tho. could that cause it to burn coolant?
Every car has problems American, Import, or Space Shuttle. The problem he's refering to expands to much more than just American cars. The automatic transmission uses a Vaccum Modulator in order to determine downshifts and throttle position. This was basically before the widespread use of Transmission Control Modules and Throttle position sensors. It would only smoke because over time the rubber inside the modulators diaphram would rupture and allow transmission fluid to bypass it and enter the intake through the vaccum line and get burned up in the cylinders. Also, all cars are peices of crap lol, eventually all they do is break.
To OP: It's your headgasket. Stop driving and change it.

i frgot to mention the smoking has stopped.. no overheating but am loosing coolant. i havnt gotten this car on the road yet so i dont drive it at all just when im messing with it.im gonna add some coolant and let it sit for a few days to see if the loss is happening while its sitting. and no rough idle
