Default Turbo DD Setup

Hey so i have (2) integra LS's think about selling the one and keeping the turboed one as a daily driver, its a 9:1 compression motor with all je pistons eagle H beam rods and that so it should be just fine with boost. BUT what should i run for a turbo for daily use?

imo, a good daily driver turbo car is one that will still give you good gas mileage, and give you the power you want without too much lag.

For instance, when I built my turbo teg, I built it with daily driveability in mind.

I went with a turbo that spools decently quick, but not so small that when I accelerate in traffic from a stop light that I wont be in boost instantly, but I didnt have to wait till 5K plus to see full boost.

Knowing I wasnt aiming on making 500+whp I kept my compression ratio at stock gsr compression, and bumped displacement a **** hair to 81.5mm. This way my car isnt a dog when its outside of boost.

I see about 290-300 miles to a tank before I have to refill, thats with mixed driving, id say 30% hwy 70% city.

Full boost for me is 4400rpm with a garrett gt32 and your run of the mill log manifold.

Id suggest something along the lines of a 57 trim to keep things simple, although there are plenty of turbochargers out there that will be just as good if not better ( precision 5857, borg S256 etc.)

the one with a built bottom end is perfectly fine. just run it on 8 to 10lbs of boost and get it tuned and youll be good to go. you have a built bottom end you could do more but thats up to you. do not swap that lsv motor back in it.

a 60 trim really wouldnt be all too bad, if you want a bit of a quicker spool you could always use a log manifold or mini-ram which are more direct flowing manifolds to get it to spool a little sooner.

I would just keep the built bottom on there.

its basically the choice between more or less stock compression and low compression, i understand that a lower compression can handle way more boost and abuse. but im currently having trouble selling the higher compression motor and need to sell one....

If you plan to use one as a DD, keep the high compression car. Higher compression will help with spool. The lower compression I would keep if it were for the track or making more power.

I was kinda feeling the same way, Hate Turbo lag but im assuming when making 350+whp its a blast and well worth the wait, but im not looking for that kinda power for my dd.lol

a borg warner or garret .57 trim would probably fit your needs just right for daily use. 10psi on built motor should be right around 300whp with a good tune and on a vtec motor. I had one before i went bigger and i would get full spool around 4,000rpm. The only thing i hated is that no matter when your putting your foot on the gas you get spool which dosnt help your gas milage that much lol

Its funny you say that, because i was telling a friend of mine those exact words..

But anyway, what was your best miles per tank with 10psi on the .57 trim? And do you think I could get by with the 450 blue tops or would that be to high of a consistant flow rate? (need I mention I only get on it when I have to)
