Default question about cluster

does anyone know how to rewind the mileage on the cluster?? im putting a new one into my car and i want to rewind the mileage to the mileage i have on my original cluster. please help. . .

just take it apart and learn...you gota do it from the back is all im gona tell you just take that ish apart

do you know how to take things apart? thats how easy/hard it is. i cant tell you its easy if i know how to do it and you dont

i think its illegal to do this, id just leave it be who cares what the milage says on the dash most efs these days dont have the miles they say anyway

sooo sayyy instead of 167k itll have 172k. lol not that big of a deal IMO

look at it this way.. the person that buys this car from you isnt gonna be an old man looking for a family car. itll proly be another dood looking to swap engines anyways. its not like you gonna trade it into a dealership.

right now my correct mileage is 105k the cluster i bought is 271k, way to big a difference. why would be illegal anyway i putting it back to the correct mileage.

one way to do it is get a speedo cable hooked up to it and hook up a drill to the tranny side of the speedo cable and drill it in reverse untill its at the correct mileage. no need to take it apart.

You can separate the odometer assembly from the rest of the cluster. Pull the needle off and remove the screws holding the odometer assembly to the speedometer plate (the plates with the speeds are different shapes on tach and non-tach clusters). When i did this I found I needed to enlarge the hole for the trip odometer reset rod with a small file; your mileage may vary. I swapped a cluster with tach into a Jeep once and actually pulled the odometer apart and corrected it, but swapping the assembly is way, way easier. It's just a few screws, and you'll have both clusters out anyway.
