AEM Sucks!!!!
About two months ago I bought the AEM EMS for my R. When my tuner installed the system the base maps would not make the car run or even turn over. So they got on the phone with AEM and after about a week with no luck it was determined that the chip in the EMS was bad. Sense then I have bought Hondata and had it tuned and everything. The thing is, the place where I bought the EMS from wont take it back so I talked to AEM and they said they wont take the system back "OR" replace the system with a working unit.......WTF kind of **** is this, they sell a bad product and wont replace it when it dosent work. Well after this I have had it with there *** I wont buy another thing with the AEM name on it bacause they dont stand behind their product like other compaines........
Just had to vent.....

Are you 100% sure that the installation did not cause the failure?

plus all you do it plug it in.....hows that going to make the chip go bad?
Are you 100% sure that the installation did not cause the failure? That is true, cause i believe AEM does a quality/functional check on every unit before it is packed. Why won't the place you got it from take it back? Call your CC company and complain, they might do a charge back

Did u post this awhile ago also? Because I remember some one else had the same problem about a month ago. I just wanted to make sure it was not a common problme.
umm, I posted my dyno results from the handata tuning. I might have said something about the AEM not working, but if you go to their message board a lot of people are having problems with the system and their tech support really sucks if you do have a problem....

run of EMS they shipped.
Wow, thats a shame. I dont know the return policy of the place you bought it from, but I'd make sure they took it back. If they sold you something and it doesnt work, then I'd keep breathing down their necks. I mean, you just gave them all that money for absolutely nothing. If I got ripped off that badly, I wouldnt be able to sleep at night.
Good luck with this situation, hopefully you come out on top.

Well I recently just sent back my CAI from AEM b/c the fork peice where it gets screwed down to the engine bay was bent it. So in other words I had a big hole in my intake. I talked to AEM directly, and sent him pics of the problem, then sent out the intake back to them. He's sending a new one to me this week. I give AEM a

Craig - Who is getting an ems when he is no longer poor
My EMS works great.
Some people have had the thing just die after a while, some were DOA. All of these issues are fixed now with newer units.
You sure you called AEM? Call again
They routinely read and monitor this site and I don't think they want people thinking they do not warrantee their products.

That's really odd.
My AEM fired up the car on the first turn of the key. It runs rich and wants to die until it gets a little warm, but that's something I can fix with tuning (provided I ever get the time...).
The last person I have heard with this problem they sent him a new one ASAP. Have you had the unit for a long time and just didn't install it? It may be out of warranty already, but even still I've heard story after story of AEM bending over backwards to help people with this system .

AEM dicked me around a while back...
You just have to make sure you talk to the right person. Kirk straightened everything out for me, and even sent me some AEM hats for the inconvenience.

I have had an AEM EMS for the past 5 -6 months. I purchased one of the first units they sold. I have nothing but praise for them and their professionalism. From my first call to AEM, they took the time to ask me exactly what I was planning to do to my car.
When I first had my system installed there was an issue with a software update my shop had downloaded. The latest update had been emailed from AEM was currupted (not that uncommon especially since the shop downloaded via dialup). When they installed the file it screwed up the AEM EMS. After realizing it was a currupted file, we called AEM (KIRK) who told us to send the unit back and they would replace it no questions asked. I was obviously anxious to have the car tuned so they caid that they would return a new unit using the same method of delivery I used, so I Fed Ex'ed it. The next day they called to give me the tracking number for the NEW unit.
About a week after the system was tuned, I got another call from Kirk. He asked how the system was working, what my results were, if I was happy with the tuner and several other questions to make sure I was completely satisfied with the product. To end the conversation Kirk told me, if I had any problems with the AEM EMS to have my tuner call them or for me to call him directly.
Recently, I had a problem with my ignition system and it burnt out one of the drivers in the AEM. My mechanic determined that it was obviously some faulty wiring with a distributor I had rebuilt. Not only did they spend over an hour talking my tuner through how to bypass this driver and use one of the spare drivers. They also told my tuner to give me one of the new computers which they had just shipped out to him the day before, send mine back to them and they sent him a replacement. So I had a second brand new unit three days later. I have no complaints at all.

have you tried calling AEM directly?
All I can say is my experience with AEM has been better than excellent. This doesn't at all sound like the company I dealt with. If I was you I would call Kirk, I am sure that they will replace the unit. After two months there is no reason for them to refund your money. Get it replaced and have AEM recommend another shop do a proper install. Sounds like the shop you went to is not very reputable, or their is more to the story you are not telling us.
