Im having trouble with my car its a 1998 fith gen vti. The engine turns over fine but wont fire. I opened the car on the fob my mate got in the car and i hit the fob button again without thinking got in the car and started the engine, the alarm then sounded so I dissarmed the alarm using the fob and shut off the ignition then went to restart the car but it would not fire. I have tried swaping the main relay, the spark plugs and leads. I have checked the resistance of all the components inside the distributor and they are all within spec. There is powed to the dizzy when i switch the ignition. The engine is getting fuel and the earths are all good. What else can I try? The alarm is the factory fit one if that may have anything to do with it?
well since the car was started with the alarm activated that might of set off a anti-theft kill switch. try to reset the alarm (I don't know if you even can..) and see if that helps.

As far as I know there is no obvious way to reset the alarm. I have tried disconnecting the battery and the plug to the siren unit to no avail. Is there possibly something obvious I'm missing as I'm running out of ideas.
