i am a honda head but this is making me feel stupid my 1996 GSR's maintenance req. light popped on the other night and i scanned it with my OBD tool and no codes popped up so i said screw and unhooked the battery for about an hour and is still on... the funny thing is 2 weeks b4 this turned on when ever i started my car it would flash 10 times then go off after the 10th flash ...anyone have an answer that i dont lol

 

Im not sure if im right but maybe its odb1 and not 2 and it just has a data port. thats the year they just came out with obd2 so maybe its obd1. check to see if you have the two green plugs on the right side corner of the passenger side. use the plug with the two wires and jumped the two and your check engine will flash.

 

i have herd of jumping but never had to do it how do ya do it

 

take a paper clip and bent it so you have like a U shape then stick it in the two wire plug and then turn your key on and watch your check engine light flash

 

Make sure your gas cap is in good working order and screwed down tightly.

We do 2-3 cars a month that come in with CEL on, all that is wrong is the gas caps are not screwed down or are defective, gas tank must maintain a bit of a vacuum. 94

bad news bears its OBD2 and the cap is good ...next idea cause i am burnt
