Default check engine light

im wondering how do i check to see why the engine light is on ...its for my eg4dr d16z6 obd1

Check your wiring near the ECU on the passenger side of the car, there should be a green plug. Jump the plug with a wire or paperclip and turn the key to the II position. The check engine light should blink in rapid succession, count the number of blinks and verify the code according to the FAQ. As a matter of fact, extracting the codes should be in the FAQ as well.
