been driving the car for about a month or so..
no problem at all until today...it started overheating..
it does not smoke or smell...my temperature gauge just goes all the way to hot


the second problem is...5th gear would pop out...and now today when getting home it will not go into 1st or the other ones unless i kick the clutch stomping on it..and then it will go in kind of hard...
but also when the clutch is out there is a strange noise when i hold the clutch in there is no noise... anyone have any ideas?..(the clutch is new)

Yep, normally if it starts poping out of fifth it means the fluid is low, then you'll bear bearings and eventually gears.

 

Did you replace the HG/water pump when you swapped the head on?

 

yeah gsr water pump and oil pump gsr timing belt...took down the tranny...everything seems good except 5th gear is gone for sure...ill put pics up of it soon and you guys can tell me if you see something else wrong...

for now im using an Ls tranny meanwhile i find out what to do with mine...

 

Was their any fluid, or much fluid in the tranny when you drained it?

 

it had somehwat of fluid...but very dark...i guess when i did the swap i lost some fluid..i should have changed it when i did the swap..
ill post pics up...most people are telling me to replace 5th and it should be good...

 

Are you using coolant? Have you bled the system to see if you possibly have an air bubble?

 

yeah...tranny s 5th gear is gone...all the other ones look good..

im using an ls tranny rite now...riding smooth..normal..all gears go in..no over heating...or anything no noises..

 

I was talking about your motor cooling issue you were having

 

that problem went away after i replaced the trranny

 

put your ls 5th gear in your bad transmission and get new bearings and new seals and you'll be good to go with the extra mileage to go with!

 

yeah im going to get that done...didnt have to much money for a rebuild rite now
so in a month or two i will throw in that ls 5th gear..

I think you need to hold the camera still when you take them so they arent so blurry...

Pics are kinda blurry. I can't tell for sure but second gear on the countershaft looks kinda funky, can't tell if its just rust or what. Usually when the stuff has been overheated it gets very dull.

 

Try to get close ups of every gear individually. then number tem for us. It will be much easier to see and discuss that way.

 

i say when you swap the ls 5th gear in you try and find another ls trans to get the gear out of so you have the ls trans right now as a back up
