Short answer: Dont get a 1000, some people consider 600's ok, I think its a bit too much.

-are you a fatty? if so, the extra power may help you.

-are you a midget? if so, the seat height will make things difficult.

-are you stupid or something? if so, mama says.....

Heh, I almost got a VFR 1000 for my first bike, but that thing was a junker, so I got a ZX6R instead so far its been fun and I havent had any problems riding it but yeah maybe a CBR600 would be better.

Go for it, just make sure to wear your stunner shades, Ed Hardy Shirt, shorts to keep cool when it's warm, and always wear your primo Nikes, gotta let the ladies know you be fly son.

And a helmet might mess up the perfect blowout hair that doesn't move. Ever.

Why do people always seem to ask this stupid question all the time?!... There is like 2143987923 threads about this subject all over the internet and everyone has their own opinion but seriously just use a little common sense.

I started on a 929RR as my very first bike EVER, and I've been riding it for 5 months and still going good. Starting on a big bike is not a bad idea if you have some common sense and self control.

I actually find that 1000cc supersports are a bit tame for todays new riders, just not enough "Umph" for day to day riding, or heaven forbid, to get out of the way in a tight situation. I think he would be better served on a ZX-14, they are easily the perfect starter bike.

Oh come now, a 200HP bike that cuts 9's in the quarter mile is perfectly suited for new riders, you just have to "Go easy on it"
