Hey guys I need some help I just installed a new clutch and flywheel in my car and when I went to go test drive it goes in gear sometimes with the car running . But with the car off it goes in gear fine . Any suggestions? Please help ? ?

Can you be a bit more descriptive with your explaination of the symptom?

 

trans wont go in gear when car is running but when car is off the trans shifts fine

 

Adjust the clutch pedal to remove the excessive free play which prevents the clutch from fully disengaging.

You should have about 1" to 1 1/2" of free play. That is a good place to start. To confirm, have someone operate the pedal slowly and identify the release fork movement. If you start the car in gear does the car want to roll without releasing the clutch pedal? If so, the clutch might not be disengaging properly.

 

Thanks everyone for all ur advice . My car is fixed now .the problem was the clutch pedal had to much free play . Now everything is fine . Thanks again
