Will a B-series motor work with a D-series Tranny?
Hey guys, I have a 95 Del Sol with a Z6, it's got high mileage on it, has a slight coolant leak, and burns and leaks a little oil. Well i've done my research and though I am perfectly capable of rebuilding the Z6, I've come to the conclusion that it will cost about the same amount (if not a little less) to just throw in a B-series than it would to try and rebuild the Z6 to make the same power......
So.....that being said, I plan on going with just a simple B16A swap and I've read on another forum site that ANY 1.5/1.6 Tranny will mount up to ANY 1.5/1.6 engine, whether it be a SOHC or DOHC, my question is..........is there any truth to this? If there is someone please enlighten me because that would make it much cheaper for me to do a swap (and possibly leave money left over for mods
.) Thanks guys.

No, there is no truth to that statement.
D series motors and B series trannys are not interchangeable with one another and vice versa.
Any D series tranny will bolt up to any D series motor.
Any B series tranny will bolt up to any B series motor.
To use a tranny from another motor series, you would need an adapter plate.
People use those to run H series motors with a B series for example. (H2B,F2B,etc)
Theres no point to run a D tranny on a B motor and so there is no adapter plate made for that. B trannies are a lot better too.
Get a B series motor with a B series tranny.
You could always get a B16A motor and just use a cheap B18B tranny if you can't afford the B16A tranny.

The price of the H2B plate last I remember was like $600 bucks? The price of a B2D plate would defeat the point.
Yeah exactly!
