Default bondo on 99 si question

basically some jackass decided to hit my drivers side door..literally backed into it and took off with no note or anything..when i came out and saw my door there was a huge *** dent that i now need to pay for.

so i went to a body shop and they want 1,000 dollars

but my father knows this guy who is a drug attic but very good with body work and he said he will do the door and paint my rear bumper for 250 which is also fuked from people slamming into my car.

so anyway last night he did the door pulled the dent out and put on the bondo..didnt sand it yet..was supposed to do it today but apparently hes on a binge right now and i wont be seeing him until atleast wed.

the problem i have here is its going to rain tommorow and tuesday...can i leave the car in the rain like that? should i cover it up with a plastic bag? help....

if u have bare metal showing, that would be your biggest concern. your bondo should be able to hold out fine in a few days in the rain. but even for extra safety, i'd rattle can primer the bondo/work area to help protect it. it'll be sanded off and re-primed eventually anyways

rule number 1. dont let crack heads work on your car.

but, back on topic.

if hes using a can of bondo thats like 10 years old that he got out of his crackhead garage, cover it up.

if its the newer stuff itll be fine, but like gorilla fart said, it wont hurt to spray some primer over it and id cover it just the same for added measure.

well hopefully he doesnt paint it outside in his backyard. hope it all turns out well for ya, money is tight with everyone nowadays and body and paint can get quite expensive. I wouldnt expect show quality body and paint work from this guy, but then again he might do a spectacular job. good luck with it man.

what you could do is find a nice door with no ding in a junkyard make sure its from an ex so you can have the power options and just change out the door panels ,,you said the paint looked good so get a door that doesnt require body work and thats it you got a good door for a decent price
