Default Fill bolt stuck

I just got my first honda. 5-speed 1993 civic VX 320k miles. I´m changing all the fluids and giving it a tune up. I don´t know the last time the tranny fluid was changed so I went to the dealership and got the right fluid. The problem is the fill bolt is stuck.

I was able to loosen the drain bolt with almost no effort. I didn't drain it because I didn't want to be up the creek without a paddle. However the one drop of oil that seeped out of the fill bolt was clean and clear.

I´m the 3rd owner and I know the 2nd owners never changed the transmission fluid. They had it for about 40k miles.

I´ve only changed the transmission fluid on AT cars. Is it normal for the transmission oil on MT to remain clean and clear? It look and smelled brand new.

What should I do? I don´t want to go to a mechanics and spend $70-90 to have someone remove two bolts for me.

2nd option. Filled from the speed sensor hole.

See the hole on top. That what it should look like after the sensor is removed.

Can I over fill it if I do it like that? 1.9l is what the owners manual says. I have 2 liters, so I guess I can just limit one of them by a 100m

Thanks!

Whats the best way to remove the sensor? Do I need to get a new gasket after I remove it?

No new gasket needed. It's only mounted by one 10mm bolt,Unplug it, remove the bolt and wiggle the sensor out. I don't think I have ever filled any Honda I've owned up using the fill hole. I always do it this way.

using the full 2 quarts/liters won't hurt anything.....

Also you need 10w30, Honda doesn't sell that.

I picked up the Honda Manual Transmission fluid for like $8 a liter. I was going to just put it 10w30, but a mechanic told me that every honda transmission that he worked on that failed was because it had 10w30 fluid in it, and now Honda Brand stuff.

Was this guy full of BS?

Yep, he's full of it.

88-95 Civics/CRXs, millions mades, spec fluid is 10w30 motor oil.

The latest Honda MTF is too thin for the older transmission. The first generation of the Honda MTF did ok.
