Holy detonation Batman, I can't see that being possible. The pistons would stick out of the block about 1/8" and you would have had 15:1 compression
the head may be the only salvageable piece. if the valves on the head aren't bent to crap, if they are just replace them, then just find a stock b18c, b18c1, b18c5 block and mate it up to your p72 head. there's really no point in finding another b16 block unless it's a really good deal. i would say b18b or b20 too, but i'm not a big fan of ls/vtec.. to each his own, it's up to you.
It sounds like something is up with that engine. You can't use P72 rods in a B16 block, they would be too long. The pistons would be lower compression that B16 pistons, so that doesn't make sense either!
You sure the engine you have, isn't a B18C? Anyway, just buy a new engine and call it a day

yeah this engine set up is mind boggling
ok well i dont know if this would make a diff but but i was just told that this block is a ctr block its stamp b16b and has hmo right next to it and on the back of the block its stamped p72 which is gsr right???

ok, if it is a B16B, that is a Civic Type R block (CTR). That is the exact same block as a gsr and Type R, so that makes more sense now
ur right the pistons do come up over the block dont remember how much its already disassembled so i cant measure it is this bad does it make it more likely to hit a valve???
what do you mean its the same block? the b16b has a way shorter stroke than the GsR/ITR block. almost a 10mm difference (same bore size though)
well sad to say but the B16b was not worth fixing so i just bought a complete long block b16a1 but i really appreciate the help and info guys hopefully i can help u guys in the future
