real noob question i kno but im wondering if everyone with a d16y8 has their distributor positioned dead center and points 12* on the crank?? reason why im asking is cause i got a chipped p28 with a basemap where im not sure what my idle regions are set too so cant really check the timing for trueness, so i want to see if it is normally dead centered so i can position mines there and have my tuner start from there...thanks

 

I don't think that the distributor is necessarily dead center when the ignition timing is set to spec. Have you tried to set the idle to spec using the idle adjustment screw so that you can time the engine with a timing gun?

 

The thing is that i dont kno where my idle region is set to on my ecu so i wont be able to adjust accordingly

 

You may be able to override the ECU setting with the idle screw on the TB or disconnecting the IACV plug.
