All so lets say i said screw using the harness for my fog lights and ran my own switch and power. What would be the best way to do this?

I have the fog light harness plugged into the factory foglight 1 pin connector and i have grounded that out. Since those connect into just a power couldnt i just splice into that red wire and run my own power and switch and not even have to worry about using the factory harness?
