Short Shifter Question
I didn't really know where to post this and since my car is an ITR I decided just to post this here, moderators please move if this is not an appropriate place.
I'm really only looking to get a short shifter for cosmetic purposes, I'm not really interested in anybody opinion on why a stock shifter is better than a short shifter.
So, I decided to install a Mugen 5sp spherical shift **** with a FD2 shift boot collar. My problem is that once installed part of the stock shifter is still visible, I want to eliminate this gap. I need a short shifter that is about an inch shorter.

I'm wondering what short shifters the ITR community are using and which ones are about an inch shorter. I've searched already and it would seem skunk2 is one of the best but is actually a bit taller than stock, so skunk2 is out. I was thinking B&M but I don't like that they don't come with the lower bushing and hardware. I thought about Buddy club but haven't found any info on its height. Any info on heights of different short shifters will be much appreciated.

if its just cosmetic, couldnt you fasten the top of your shift boot to the base of the ****/flange nut somehow and keep it from being seen? i was thinking maybe tie a zip tie on the lever under that plastic thing at the top of the shift boot and position it so that it holds it up to the bottom of the ****? thats just my idea
I thought the boot collar slides over the **** collar to eliminate the gap. Because I was looking it up last night but couldn't find a good example.

Are you married to that shiftknob? Because probably no matter what short-shift kit you get, you're still going to see some of the lever.
You need a **** that is more recessed, like the original Mugen shift ****.
And the JDM red-stitched boot is slightly shorter than the USDM boot.
And I know you don't want to hear it, but why screw up your shift geometry just because you want a bling shift ****?

I know how you feel I have the same shift **** the gap make it look very ugly if you go back to the stock shift boot you will reduce the gap or might want to get an aftermarket boot it may be cheeper then short shifter

You could also take a hacksaw to the threaded part of your shifter and cut about 15 threads off it. That way you still have threads left and wont need to replace the shifter or weld anything.
I dont think I understand your problem completly, but why dont you add a stopper to keep the booth from falling...
Like in the pic below, but I wouldnt use a nut. you should be able to find in homedepot a hard rubber washer like ring that can hold pretty tightly around the shifter shaft.

This is probably what you're looking for.. I think they're a vendor in the marketplace too.
