Default d16a6? 150 worth it or not

alright i got a 91 hatch std with a d15 in it. I found a d16a6 on craigslist for 150 with a rod knock. I dont have much money but i want something a little faster and easier on oil cuz mine burns oil like crazy. My question is is it worth even buying cuz i want to rebuilt the bottom end of the d16 and throw a vtec head on there. and should i get an si harness and pm6 ecu will that work fine?

Honestly, I don't think it's worth it for YOU because it sounds like you don't understand a few things (generally speaking).

I can see picking it up with the intention of rebuilding later but if you don't have money to begin with how do you see yourself rebuilding it? What would be your time frame? What would be your REALISTIC budget? Do you understand what rod knock is? Do you know where the damage would be and how to fix it? Have you ever rebuilt an engine? Do you have the specific tools to rebuild an engine?

For your mini me questions, you can refer to the FAQ as your questions should be answered in there.

What 24TEN said and add to that the Si harness wont match your car harness, you could convert your own harness or get one from Rywire.

Best idea is to save the money first then look for an engine instead of finding the engine and trying to get someone to hold it for you untill you can save the money.

It should not take you that long to save and it will give you far more choices on what you can buy.
