93 DX sedan Oil Light on and Rod Knock Question.
Hey everyone, What's goin on
I Have a 93 sedan in my Yard. Engine has a Rod Knock, The car was Given to me to use as a parts car But it's in Fairly good shape. Plus summers Here and none of MY cars got AC on account of turbo. The car is an automatic but that's Irrellevant for this but The engine has a Rod Knock and the Oil Light is On, It seems to be running on all cylinders even wit hthe knock, I'm pretty good when it comes to problems like this but i'm just wondering if Having a Bad Lower Rod Bearing on the Number 3 cylinder would cause the Oil light to come on, I don't care if this Engine last at all but the Oil pressure is so low to pthe point that it don't pump up to the head or nothing and i didn't think just a Rod bearing bad would cause this, I have plenty of spare pistons and bearing and rods and whatnot and i was hoping i could get away with just dropping the pan and putting a new Rod bearing in would help this but wasn't sure if it was even worth it.
Either way i got another engine to throw in just in case but don't really feel up to it right now.

Rod knock and low oil pressure are directly related. If you run low on oil pressure, you run the risk of spinning a bearing. Once the bearing is spun, you are SOL. You have to replace the bearings and/or rods/crank depending how bad they are. They will not fix themselves. So it sounds like you are kinda in the need for either a rebuild or new bottom end. New bottom end is probably your cheapest route, since SOHC motors can be found easily and readily available.

Dude, slow down... your super-sentence is confusing
What's the oil level like?
Then pull the oil pan and girtle off and check the rod berings.

Hehe, Yea sorry bout that i was kinda in a Wired Mood when i typed that. LOL. But yea i'm prolly just gonna Drop in the spare Engine Laying in my yard, I knew it this engine was bad but i DO have an old Beat up set of d15 pistons/rods/bearings that i was gonna throw in tjust that one cylinder. My Daily Drive Chevy Blazer Kinda Got Burned down and i need the fastest route to get around with AC, jsut till i find another car and i don't care if it runs like gargbage as long as it don't throw no codes and everything is lubed properly.
