Crank Pulley Bolt Vs. Me
After 1 hour of struggle, I finally got it loose. As most of you should know, this is a pain in the butt bolt to remove. ESPECIALLY since my block is out of the car. Because the thing moves all over the place! I had nobody around to help so I put the block sideways and stood on it. Propped my head and left arm up against the CEILING (Haha, its only 6 feet) to brace the block so that it doesn't move while using my right arm to pull down on a 5 feet long bar!
I pulled and pulled and finally I felt it breaking loose. I had to use a chain thingy, i'm not sure exactly what its called. But it hooks up to the Crank and holds it still. It is not a real good method to use as the gripper thing on the chain mechanism will eat/break the pulley's edges. Another trick that I figured out, if you have a flex plate off of an automatic you can bolt it up to where the flywheel is suppose to be. And use a metal braided rope and tie that to the holes on the block. That keeps the crank from moving.
Damn, I'm tired.

the more I read these stories the more I appreciate the 60 I spent on the Moroso Crank pulley tool.
similar situation, lost the damn key that goes in the crank pulley off my crx, while replacing the timing belt. had to pull another crank pulley off an old blown engine that i keep for parts. I used my 450 ft lb impact, and that didnt even touch it. I tried bracing the crank and using a breaker bar with a pipe on it. broke the breaker bar. tried torching it, impacting it, beating it with a hammer, tried spray lubricant, nothing worked... I had to go buy a 600 ft lb impact gun. even that took a while. I guess Honda uses retired sumo wrestlers to put the crank pulley bolts in.
heat then electric 1/2 impact,
standard (craftsman professional series) 1/2 impact (air) wouldnt even bug it, they are not fast enough impacts, so the electric works for me, ive also had to use a 3/4 impact (air) which took alittle while to
the key is HEAT
them impact, takes like 5 minutes after that

1 hr to get to water pump.....15 min to get it off and maybe 15 to put it together

Live 10 mins away from a auto shop and paid them 5 bucks to break the bolt then I hand tightened the bolt back then drove home with caution. Once I got home jacked the car up had a friend sit in the car and hit the brakes while in gear then nudged it loose, no sweat

after 3 ratchets(craftsman),and a cheater pipe snapped clean in half, my friend finally managed to get mine off. its good to know people who are endowed with bionic retard monkey strength.
BTW, is it only that hard the first time? ive been pulling mine off constantly, trying to get my car running, and i can usually break it loose with one sharp kick now.

Did you take a picture of this?
Good job on defeating the evil crank pulley bolt.

Back when i had my CRX we had no problem getting it off we had a problem keeping the thing tight....i dunno what happened to it but one day it got loose and everyday after that it got loose again finally when the crankshaft went out we had to replace the whole engine and then no more problem w/ loose bolt
Craftsmen 3/4 drive breaker bar with craftsmen deep impact socket (19mm+, whatever your size may be). 4' pipe extension. And a chain strap wrench.
hehe...I pounded the bolt for 15 mins with my friends 500lbs torque wrench. Had to resort to the above method.

(on an engine stand) moroso pulley wrench pushing against bottom of engine stand, me pushing engine one way, my dad with an all brass wrench (damn nstrong, and heavy) and a 3 ft cheater and about 250lbs exerted on it. And about a week of daily slick 50 and WD-40! And me hoping it doesn't shear the 3 grade 5 bolts I'm using to hold it to the engine stand with.
