Default timing belt aftermath

so i just changed the timing belt/waterpump/tensioner.

the engine runs fine, it idles fine. but there is a squeek and it does feel as if something is either too tight or too lose. the car pulls still and it only squeeks sometimes, during startups the most. what could it be? is the timing belt too tight?

Are you running power steering or ac? Check those belts if you are.

If your timing belt is too tight it'll whine, not squeak. Im with the other guy, AC/PS belts are too loose.

so i popped off the valve cover and noticed that the timing belt was a lose, i tightened it and now the whining noise is constant. idle/driving is still fine.

any ideas?

can i just remove the power steering belt then start the car and see if the noise is still there? if it is then i move on to the ac belt?

if you only had an intermitten squeal before then you tighten up the belt and have it all the time my guess would be to check that tensioner, you could have gotten a bad seed

i have wrapped a coat hanger around the tensioner to get extra leverage on tightening it (was running big cams and didnt want belt hop) and have never had that noise.

these are oem parts. how do i know if i am tightening too much or not on the belt? there is enough play on both sides, more on the intake side than the exhaust .

Are you adjusting it using the method described in the factory service manual?

Try Having it kinda tight on the intake side and like a 180 degree turn on the exhaust side. And Make sure its a TDC everytime u take that belt off cause if its not say bye to that motor.
