ok I keep buying an ecu and it frys as soon as I install and turn key. same spot every time. has anyone else had this problem? How do I fix this. Its getting expensive. please help.

 

Check for a shorted wire.

 

ecu's are protected by a fuse so that does not happen

ECU both receive and provide voltage. So yes, shorts to ground can and do fry ECUs.

 

i couldnt be certain of the problem, but one would wonder: why do you keep buying ecu's if they keep frying everytime you plug them in?

What part of the board are you frying and does the car run? If you're frying Q31 the IAT and purge solenoid plugs are probably switched around, check a wiring diagram and see that everything is plugged in correctly.

 

As 94EG has wisely pointed out, checking for swapped sensor connectors would definitely be the place to start.
