My D16Z6 was over the hill with 290k. Bought a JDM D15B. Cranked up and it has a ticking sound over the #1 piston. I think it needs a valve lash. No smoke, drives great. Thoughts?

 

how bad is the ticking over the number 1 piston? rough as hell or what? and a valve lash wouldnt be bad idea.

 

no engine needs a valve lash..perhaps a valve adjustment maybe. my d15b purrs like a kitten, the d16z6 i have however def needs some valves adjusted

 

Lash. aka valve clearance, adjustment. Its pretty loud. I don't think its the piston. Its coming from the Intake side of the valves. So I might do an adjustment and see if it stops it. If not it's going back and getting a replacement
