Default ef w/d15b7 block, everything else d15b2?

My niece's automatic stock EF sedan just blew a rod out the front of the block (d15b2 from stock) and I have a d15b7 block in the garage. I only have the block. Can I use it with the rest of everything else remaining d15b2? I searched it but could only get alot of back and forth on whether or not the number of teeth in the timing belts are the same.

Anyone know this and what timing belt I would have to use? Thanks

the b8, b2, and b7 all have the same heads.

Different cams and intake manifolds.

If you used a b7 block..use the b7 timing belt.

I'll take it a step further and say those motors listed above use the same timing belts.

To answer the OP directly you can use the B7 block in place of the blown B2 and treat it exactly the same in terms of replacement parts (mechanically speaking they are practically identical). The only thing off the top of my head that will be different between the two is that the back of the B7 block will not be tapped for the fan switch. On the 92-00 D blocks the fan switch is located on the thermostat housing. Easiest thing to do is find a matching plug and cut/splice it in place of the old (existing) fan switch plug on your harness and use the thermostat housing meant for the B7. I can provide you pics if you need it.

They are the same, when you do the swap you can compare the two together to confirm.

For the pics, take a look at this write up I did a while back. Skip all the other stuff, scroll down to the fan switch part and you'll see the difference and how I modified the harness.
