b and k series dont rev past 5k

A friend of mine has had the same problem in both motors. when he removes the oil pressure switch. both cars seem to fine and both rev past 5k as normal. has anyone delt with this problem

I had the same problem in a k, but it was the camshaft sensor. after replacing it. rev was back to normal.
