is my head gasket going?
sup, newly boosted d16z6..i've been dealing with colling problems ever since and have been seeing temps up to 220 degrees. Recently my friends have been seeing some white smoke clouds come from me at full boost, high RPM shifting. When the car is at idle, no smoke, normal driving, no smoke. only at high RPM's. Is this normal for a boosted car?
i recently read that this can be caused by the head lifting because i am using stock head studs. anyone else ever heard of this? also any ideas on how to keep my temps down?
white smoke is a sign of coolant burning. also, boost on stock head studs will cause head lift more often than not. i would suggest you look into a new headgasket and some arp head studs.
a realll simple way of testing head gaskets is is to put on a no spill funnel on the rad and use a 5 gas tester to see if hydrocarbons(fuel) is leaking out and look for bubbling coolent
