Icon6 Idle Air Control Valve code reading, cleaned it and still problem exists!

Idle Air Control Valve code was reading, so I took it off and cleaned it. Put it back on and still the problem with my idle exists until my car warms up????

So i swapped a 92 d15b7 engine into my 93 del sol that had a 93 d15b7 in it. Everything matched besides some plugs and throttle body. Switched everything out so i had my 93 wiring harness and throttle body. started up and ran the car, but has problems with idling at startup until it warms up to a certain temp. My Check engine light has been on for so long and finally figured out how to read codes. My Idle Air Control Valve code was reading so I found the part and cleaned it. Put it back on and my CEL is still on reading that code along with still idling funky. Anyone have the same problem and know how to fix it? Ive tried many things, but just haven't figured it out. Any help would be great?!

Do you have a high, low, or fluctuating idle problem? Have you cleaned and adjusted the FITV?

Have you checked whether the IACV plug has battery voltage on the Yel/Blk wire with the key in ON(II)?

its higher than 1000 and yes fluctuates. Will check if the plug has power, but the thing is...this engine harness was the one I used on my old engine and never had this problem. and i switched the IACV so its my old one..so i don't think power is the problem. I will check to make sure though...i just figured since they both worked on my last engine, they would be fine now.

I have not cleaned and adjusted the FITV..may look into that. But the FITV is something that i may work on. I just read the link on your signature, is the FITV as easy to clean as the post says it is? and is it the same on my engine as in the pics? Thanks a lot

Clean and adjust the FITV as described at the link. The job should be very similar to what you have already done on the IACV.

When you are having the problem, pull the intake off and use your finger to cover the IACV or FITV port inside the throttle body. Does covering one of these ports improve the idle and eliminate the fluctuation?

Have you tried bleeding the cooling system?

cleaned the FITV..also, screwed it in all the way. still high revving, not as much fluctuation though. I read in one of the links that if you have high idle still you should unscrew the valve a bit...is that true? and if it is..any idea how much? its a pain taking it off and on. might just have to keep it on and loosen the end cap and unscrew the valve.

Ill try covering the ports. haven't tried that yet.

And I have not bled the cooling system. i don't think there was any fluid in the engine when i put it in. I will check the other things first. thanks again.

oh yea, didn't see the check engine light come on, and it didn't flash when I tried finding a code. so maybe cleaning it was the trick. now i have to find the right spot in the valve to unscrew it.

Thanks

ok..pulled off the intake..put my finger over the FITV port..nothing. put my finger over the IACV port..normal idle!! I cleaned and put on my old IACV from my last engine so i know it was working. I am at a loss and don't know what to do know. I never had this problem with my last engine..so you would think with my old IACV installed, there wouldn't be a problem...but there is.
