MINI ME....P2J-6 STAMPED ON THE HEAD
Ive got a 2000 dx. Stock d16y7. I just recently purchased a Y8 head with intake manifold, injectors, etc. Anyways, the head I got is stamped p2j-6 on the exhaust side. After some homework...it seems that the head is off a 97ex with a AUTO tranny. My car is a 2000 with a 5sp. Dumb question....but does it really make a difference? Also is it a mission to do the work. I know its not hard to work on a single cam, but I've never really messed around with this mini me stuff. What computer should I run....will my distributor work with that head......? Any and all info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
the head doesn't matter, the intake manifold does. 5 speed and automatic Y8 IMs are different. run a 5 speed manifold and 5 speed P2P ECU.
how are the manifolds different....? i dont understand that concept! anyways....would my distributor work with this head? Im sure I have to run wires to the vtec solenoid...i would need a schematic.....

Very nice write up. Thanks. That sounds easy enough. It states Knock Sensor wiring....would I already have a knock sensor? Anyways....I just came across some NPR pistons on the cheap new in the box, cant wait to high compression, and let this mini me scream!!!!!

Fixed it for you.
they are like $25 off ebay.
get a z6 intake mani and cut it in half.
use the z6 flange and like 6 inches of runner.
the z6 mani and the runners match up almost perfect.
just weld the 2 together
then you can use the d16 fuel rail and injectors on the z6 part
the cb600 itbs have the tps and map right on it

OBD2B 99-00 D16y8 have air injection in the Intake manifold, different thermostat case housing and air assist solenoid valve, as well as different OBD2B p2p ecu.
I'm not sure how difficult it is to downgrade to obd2a because I have no experience with it, but this was the whole reason I gave up on the mini me for my 99 LX, cost me as much to get all the correct parts to run it obd2b as it would to buy a complete 99-00 d16y8 engine.
