Default what size socket for removing hub nut

Im taking down my tranny to replace my clutch but before i do that i need to know what size socket im going to need to remove the driveaxle hub nut cause this is my only transportation and I cant make any trips to the auto parts store .Any thing else I should know. thanks

32mm socket, autozone has it as a rental.

Thanks guys also do you guys drain the tranny fluid when you remove the tranny or just leave it in there?

you should drain the fluid and replace it while the transmission is out. the fluid is easier to drain while the tranny is still installed. It should only take like 2.3 quarts. GM synchromesh all the way on fluid. The only reliable product gm makes anymore.

I just drained it out like 6 months ago but im reading the HAYNES and it says you must remove the tranny fluid sorry guys for the noob questions but im barely getting back into it i havent really worked on a car in over 2 years other than basic maintenece stuff

they arnt that cheap. 32m axel nut socket is like $12-14

12$ seems pretty cheap to me, if you cant afford a 12$ socket you should not be working on your car. I bought mine from napa, has a lifetime warranty and I am constantly using it. Its paid for itself by now.

i broke a breaker bar on the nut. make sure you have a good one.

I have broken 4 Craftsman breaker bars, all 1/2" drive. PB blaster, torch, everything and it didn't budge. Thank god for the Lifetime warranty.

Lol I use a 1/2" craftsman ratchet with a metal pipe on it thats 3 feet long, works like a charm problem free

I had no problem taking my axle nut off lol, but yes 32mm like everybody says.

ive broken ratchets too. pieces of crap

maybe one day ill actually use the correct tools for the job.

I use a 6ft breaker bar. Works good. Or if you think it might not come out then take it to a shop to loosen it up for you and retighten it. Most shops do it for free

I would be too embarrassed to take it to a shop to ask if they could loosen up my axle nuts because I couldn't do it myself.
