kerosene to repair piston rings!!
My b18a1 burns a lot of oil to no suprise. I was suggested to run a quart and a half of kerosene and 4 quarts of oil for five minutes in my engine and then to dump it out and do a regular oil change without driving until the second oil change. Why? The PCV valve when clogged can cause build up of carbon around the piston rings causing it to burn oil. And this kerosene is suppoe to free up the piston rings. This could save a lot of money compared to rebuilding an engine.

I would be absolutely FRIGHTENED to put something as reactive as Kerosene in my motor at all, even if it's in the oil. Kerosene is highly flammable, I'd be scared of the sheer heat eminating from the head once u open the oil reserve at the top...I dunno dude..I can see how it WOULD work...
I've cleaned OIL off my hands with Kerosene before, Gasoline works to though...lemmie know how it turns out.

thats the biggest load of nonsense ive ever heard, piston rings dont work like that, if anything, carbon build up would help seal the rings

x2 over time the accumulated carbon build up makes up for the wear on the piston rings. TBH, I doubt it will do anything since the carbon in the cylinders is usually extremely hardened.
Kerosene is good if you just got a block or other part that may have minor rust or carbon build up on it.I have clean blocks and piston/ walls with kero and a light scuff pad but I dont think it will work any magic to healing the fact you need rings. So yea dumping in kero could have a bad affect on your motor but i dont know much so dump it in and post up what happens....lol
Send your block in to get re sleeved and get new rings, don't try putting some stupid **** in your engine for a cheap band aid fix that you hope will work.
you're suppose to use diesel for this. it's an engine flush and you mix it 50/50 with oil. it's basically an oil wash that breaks up crud in engines that haven't been maintained. you start the car and let it idle for a few minutes, shut it off then drain.
it does zero for your ring problem
i've done this with 90% diesel before. works for removing crud but little else

Thanx for the input, I only looked into it because I work and go to school full time so a bandaid fix wuldnt be such a bad idea. My master plan is to buy another bseries on the side and fully build it while I'm in school so when spring time comes around, hopefully, I'll b ready to drop it in. I'll keep u guys posted
The Kerosene or Diesel fuel method of cleaning out your engine is not meant to "fix" anything, but rather clean out all the oil sludge from your engine. If your car has crap rings, this isn't going to change anything.
