I just picked up a em1 clone and the check engine light is on and vtec won't work of course. I tried the 2p service connector and it wouldn't flash but stays solidly lit. I know that some times that can mean a bad ecu, but the car does run. So any ideas?

 

Look for a short in the service connector and CEL wires.

 

will do. however, it will take a second for it to light up after the car is turned on. Kind of like a soft code.

 

if the wires were shorted somewhere, the light would come on immediately. try barrowing a ecu. if the problem goes away get a new ecu, if it doesnt troubleshoot further. keep us posted hopefully its just the ecu.

 

thanks. i dont think its shorted out, the other day i started it (keep in mind it was really hot out that day) but anyways it stayed off for about 6-8 seconds before coming on. im going to try and find a ecu and see what happens. if anyone else can lend a hand it will be appreciated.
