Default Trying to get my N/A setup quieter!

My setup
B18c1
Stage 2 cams, retainers, cam gears
Skunk2intake manifold with 70mm tb and arm cold air intake
11:1 cp pistons eagle rods
Hytech rep headers

Problem is my exhaust it sounds loud and kinda raspy and smells like crap so trying to get sum pointers to help me fix this. Sounds clips or any experience with different mufflers or resonators or cats would be GREATLY appreciated.

My exhaust setup: 2.5 piping with magna flow cat to a small vibrant resonator i think 12in. back to a black vibrant muffler.

I made myself exactly what some guy stated was a good idea here, they all thought he was a fool for the ideas he had but damn did this one work good!

I put together a JDM itr header & cat with a +06 rsx-s cat back= very nice tone on full throttle and quite when partial!

just put stock muffler on there with 2.5" DMH ecutout if you want it quiet. my car sounds like stock until the cutout is open.

**** all that. run a big resonator in the middle. and run a small resonator in the back as a muffler. small dump tip and boom. it sounds decent and ur still loud so ur still fast right?

How old is your exhaust? Sounds like the packing in the muffler is burnt out. What kind of smell do you have?

You wanna make power, you run a 3'' exhaust period, run two res to a nice muffler and you'll be fine, but its going ot be loud when you get on it.. deal with it.. you wanna be quiet go by a stock d16 civic.

The smell of my car is pretty bad especially when I first start warming it up. I was going to try a bigger resonator and upgrade my cat to like an smsp one or sum thing in that range anyone recommend any other great high flow cats?

Anyone try the vibrant ultra quiet resonators before? I don't mind loosing sum power for noise reduction but depending on how much power loss.

If I recall, they're fairly large.

I went with a 2.5" x 28" perf core Magnaflow resonator and it really took the rasp out. Garbage 4-1 header, test pipe, 2.5" piping, old Magnaflow oval muffler. Not WS2 quiet, but pretty quiet enough for me and RI State Police.

i have a Tsudo 2.5" stainless steel system on my LS/V EF hatch. I had to lengthen it slightly cause it came off a REX, but damn it does sound pretty good, no raspyness, not loud at all. When i want to be loud i take the muffler section off and it dumps right behind the passenger rear wheel. Sounds amazing, but its always good to go quiet again haha

yea i got the same problem, i think going with a vibrant muff and a resonator is the way to go. Deep and throaty but quiet when idle and cruising.

Has anyone run the 3" Turbo Thermal exhaust on a NA setup? I just picked up the Thermal catback for mine and am curious of how loud it is. I am expecting it to be pretty loud since there are no resonators at all.

ALL MOTOR has 2000 posts and is probably very knowledgeable. But I find he is rude when other people state their dilemmas or are trying to learn. That isnt doing anyone any good so lighten up man, this is all for fun.

I do not take his posts in a bad way, maybe he is telling you of his experiences as an engine builder/tuner.

My old exhaut setup on the right, new on the left.

Running 2.5" catback on my fully built GSR Vibarant ultra quite is too large for DC chassis running 4"x18" magnaflow round muffler(magnapack/resonator/muffler) to magnaflow muffler similar spec as vibrant black muffler sounds good not to loud, if I could do it again id go with 20" or longer

sounds great on my car.

Get your car tuned, everything sounds raspy and just plain awful when untuned you'd be surprised at the difference a couple % fuel makes on the sound of a car.

oh and make sure no pinhole leaks.
