dont listen to him, I had the same questions when I installed mine for my XM radio. You do have to be careful though.

You can go to radioshack and buy a cig lighter kit that comes with a micro fuse tap. Look up "fuse tap". Its basically this thing that plugs into one of your drivers side micro fuse ports that lets you pull out a wire to make a new circuit. Obviously, you need to make sure you choose a fuse that wont be overloaded. Consult your helms for which fuse powers what.

So from the fuse tap you have one wire. That wire goes to the new cig lighter. Then the second wire coming from the cig lighter should be screwed onto your frame. I just used the same place that my existing cig lighter was screwed to.
