Alarm goes off on its own
I've seen a variety of posts on this but none quite seem to fit. I may also have more details than in previous posts as well.
I have a 2003 Odyssey and about a week ago the alarm would go off for no apparent reason. I could NOT shut it off with the alarm button on the remote, but if I clicked the unlock button it would shut off. After talking with a few people and a dealer it was recommended that either the batteries in the remotes were going OR it might be the car battery itself.
Since the car battery is only a year or two old and there is no sign of any corrosion on the terminals, I replaced the batteries in the remotes. I thought fixed it until it went off again while we were away and the police showed up! So it still goes off but less frequently. Now when I take it somewhere I have to disconnect the battery.
I do plan to take it to a dealer next week but thought I'd also ask here first before doing so to see if there are any 'tricks' I might try to try and diagnose this myself.

First off is it an aftermarket or oem/oem add on?
A battery can had a "dead" or weak cell which can cause it to be bad and yet have no signs of corrosion. High temps can cause some of the water to evaporate. And since most batteries are "maintenance free" or sealed one can check fluids or chemical levels.

I thought I was being complete in my description and obviously wasn't. Sorry about that.
This is the standard factory alarm. As for the car battery itself, I'm pretty sure it's fine as this has occurred even after taking the car out and so I'd think it'd leave it in a charged state. The car has always started very quickly and so the battery seems to be 'healthy'. I had to leave it in an airport garage last week and disconnected the battery so the alarm wouldn't go off while unattended and the car started right up then too.

This is a stupid question....how long have you owned the vehicle? Did you buy it new or used? Ive seen people buy used vehicles and not realize they have an aftermarket alarm in it.....
where do you live? some alarms can be sensitive enough where a small earthquake will set it off, even if you dont notice anything. otherwise the battery change could have solved the problem and the second time, someone set it off
This has happened multiple times in a single day - the battery is physically disconnected as I type this. One thing I hope I didn't mislead anyone with, is when I say alarm I mean the 'panic alarm' associate with the key fob and not a full function alarm such as one that could get set off by bumping/shaking the vehicle.
