Default Possible Alarm Problem...My battery died and now

I can't start the car (I put my jumper box on the battery), I think the battery dying somehow f'd with the alarm brain...anyone familiar with prestige alarms at all ?

Also how bad do you think it would be to just take out the alarm, I've never done an alarm install so I'd just be winging it I suppose...

I just bought the car and it came with this alarm, after this incident I'm ripping it out and smashing the hell out of it.

Thanks

How did you determine that the alarm was causing your battery problem. When installed correctly, most alarms draw as much current as a digital clock. The only time it will drain a good amount of current is when it's going off.

Have you checked the alternator?

If you're willing to take the risk, you can unplug the brain and see if you still have battery problems. BTW, what kind of alarm is it?

I don't think the alarm was causing the battery problem, I just think the battery dying may have somehow messed with the alarm brain. I'm gonna go mess with it some more in a bit, Brad thanks for the idea...will check that if all else fails.

When you try to start the car, does it crank but not turn over? Or do you just get nothing when you try to start? If you get nothing, you could have a problem with the starter-kill relay. I would find the brain, unplug it and then try to start it. You should be able to do this if not the I suspect a failed relay is causing your problem.

Okay it was one of those dumb problems, same thing happened today so I decided to try to ground the jumper box to another point on the chasis before I went nuts. Sure enough that did it, picked a bad ground for the jumper box...Thanks guys
