Ek sedan with a B18b1 won't start...PLease Help Me!
Ok honda tech i really need your help. I put in this LS b18b1 yesterday into my 1996 ek civic sedan and i am having serious issues geting it to start. First of i will say what i have on the engine. Its a b18b1 which i believe is an obd0 and i changed the intake manifold to a Ls obd2 but with my old sohc vtec fuel rail and injectors and sohc vtec throttle body. Everything is grounded rite the three main ones but still nothing. The car is geting fuel through the fuel rail, the thermostat housing ground is good, the distributor is giving off spark but still no start. The car cranks but it does this sputtering sound when cranking.
Now a little info on the engine. It came out of a 1992 integra automatic that was purchashed @ a junk yard crashed and was sitting around for a while and then i came into the picture and bought it about 4 months ago. This engine could of been sitting around for a long time. Please give me ideas on what to check. What can it be?

did u inspect the motor before u dropped it in? all sensors plugged in? what kind of ECU? maybe u should compression test it. If all that u said is true, then it should start. also check fuses. do all of this and u should be good.
Yes everthing is connected rite i am using my Ek civic ex engine harness. The ecu i am using is a virgin p28 with the stepdown harness but then also tryed the stock ecu 96 ex sohc vtec. I also did a compression check i put oil where the spark plugs go and then cranked it and out of all the cylinder holes it sprayed oil. The fuses i really havent checked. Which one can it be and where is it located? the fuse box under the hood or the fuses under the steering wheel?
Check and make sure your spark plug wires are on the correct plugs on the Dist. Cap.
Have you done anything personally with the Mechanical Timing(Cam Timing). Either way, make sure it is correct.
Below is a picture of a B-Series Dist. Cap showing the Firing order and which plugs go to which cylinder. You also need to get the Correct ECU.

Yes the firing order is good. I have not checked the timing belt and no i havent messed around with the cam timing. If the engine was off timing would it still start? yes or no?

What were the cylinder compressions? If the mechanical timing is off, the engine typically will not start.
Any CEL codes?
Is spark bright white at the plugs? Does the engine fire up with starter fluid?
