seems to be just a ground for the alternator. can i cut and reconnect a wire or is there a better way off doing this. need ur HT hellpp, thankss my DD needs to be fixed!!

that's not the ground for the alternator, that's the charging wire from it...

Just replace it with an equal gauge wire or bigger, make damn sure your new terminal ends are tight on the new cable and you will be good to go.

cause and effect, you either have a bad connection somewhere in the same circuit, or your alternator is putting out way to much power, you should have a shop check it out, just replacing the melted wire will be putting a band aid on it

Looks to me like it already had been cut and spliced with a loose connection that melted and heated with the load............. replace the whole cable, not a splice then check to see if the alternator is charging at the correct rate. There may be other damage to the alternator and/or battery now.
