Default B20Vtec, 200+whp, Clutch options?

So Im in the process of putting together a B20Vtec, RS machine "ITR" spec pistons, ARP rod bolts, headstuds, GSR WP/OP, P72 head, Supertech Vtrain, JUN3s, Hytech bigtube rep., JG VictorX

The car is getting tuned very soon, and Im wondering what kinda clutch will hold up. I had an exedy stg1 in my GSR w/ boltons, cams and I liked it for first 10000miles, but it started to feel sluggish. Engagement wasnt as solid as it was after break-in. I've ran the car on 22in slicks twice at the drag strip and have had about 30 runs on BFG drags, and the clutch just doesnt feel as solid anymore. And I got a free exedy from a friend that I am considering using as a temp.

SO my question is:
Will the clutch hold up?
Cause my last setup only made about 170whp. This new setup should be well over 200whp and will DEF be running the car on slicks and DRs more often.

Please post your reviews, comments, and suggestions if you've had this clutch with that a similar power level.

Thanks

I'm using a exedy oem replacement pressure plate with a clutch specialties 6 puck. Has been holding well with maybe 10 runs down the track on 24.5" slicks along with the disc being used for a 3000 miles when it was a straight h22.. If i were you, i'd upgrade the clutch disc at the least.

Eh, I've been told to use a heavier duty pressure plate with the exedy disk. Because even IF i get a 6puck and use the stg1 exedy PP, the pressure plate will still only have the same amount of clamping pressure and not enough to make use a the 6puck, right?!

In my hatch I had a ACT 6 puck with a OEM Pressure plate.

Raced at least 10 times a weekend for 4 months without slipping.

Sold it to my buddy and he's used it for 3 more months with continuous abuse with no slipping, still on a stock Presssure plate

Competition Clutch, probably their stage 2. I have a LS/V that has 201whp and it does quite well with it.

Just use a Exedy Pressure plate and an ACT 6 or 4 puck. Its will hold just fine.

i had a friend who ran a 6puck with oem pp and had no problems. i tried it and didnt have such luck, so i think its a hit or miss.

you could go with the act hdss setup. i plan on using it in my motor which specs out to be very similar to yours. my friend ran that clutch in his turbo teg, 300hp 210ft/lbs and it never slipped.

i really want the clutch masters or action's carbon kevlar disk clutch! any input on it? Ive driven it on an ek and ITR both with JDM ITR motors making 190ish and it felt nice. Pedal is not too hard and grabs nice every time.

Input?

"UPGRADING" the disc with a disc that has a better coefficient of friction than stock is key, if making a decent amount more torque than stock. Upgrading to a pressure plate with a heavier clamping load should be done wisely so as not to buy a stage "X" kit just because it's a stage "X". You should choose your clutch kit accordingly so that it can handle the maximum torque you expect to make and a bit more. Some cheap aftermarket brand clutch kits claim they are stage 1, 2, 3, etc. when in reality they offer little benefit, or no benefit over stock. And then some kits are just way overkill for an all motor setup.

I.E. - I ran an action clutch 1ms for about 35k miles, then a 1md for about 30k miles on a 193whp/137 ft.lb. build. Not a major beast but a decent upgrade over stock. The action clutch's held up pretty well. Some may think, 30k miles isn't much, but I drive the car as a true daily driver, in heavy traffic all week long and drive it hard on the weekends at the local track . I recently installed an exedy stage 1 cause I got a killer deal on it. It's not the oem replacement, but the stage 1 for modified builds. So far 4k miles and it grabs great and pedal feel is just barely heavier vs. stock.

What is the pressure plate's clamping force and the disc's coeffecient friction? How much torque are you making?
