B16A/B16B swap Need Advice Please!!!
So i want to save up for a swap. im a full time student and wouldnt have time to do the swap myself so i would pay for this shop to do the swap. the shop is XRS Innovations in glendale, AZ. they have 2 deals im really interested in. one which is a B16A full swap for 3k installed. the other is a B16B CTR full swap for 4.5k installed. would i be paying too much or would i find the motor somewhere else for a cheaper price and have another shop do the install?
all input is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance! here are pics of my ek below. its a 98 btw

seems kinda high to me, but then again I dont know what most shops would charge for the work since I would just do it myself
Is it that you dont have the time, tools or knowledge? or is it just intimidating the thought of doing the swap yourself?

well a b16a is like 2 grand so theyd b charging u a g in labor, im sure a local honda person would charge u less than that but its still not to bad of a deal. I think the b16b r around 3500-4k.
For that kind of money, i wouldn't do either, i don't like engines with no torque. I can wait to scrap the B16A out of my 2000 EM1.
Source out a B20Z with gsr or B16 tranny and axles, it will make way more power and be so much more fun to drive!!

i just dont have the time to do it myself or else i would. this car is my dd so its my only means on transportation. i would be able to borrow a car though in the meantime.
how much would i be able to find a B20Z for and the B16 tranny with axles? how much power would that setup put out?

makes 25 ft lbs more tq than a B16A...thats a lot btw, more than a Type R
Makes about the same hp as a B16
The biggest advantage of the larger engine is power band! The bigger engine makes more power for longer!
B16b are good engine if you can get it for cheap. I bought mine for 2500 complete a few years ago. Don't spend to much on a overrated engine. I mean they are nice torque less engines..but you are probably better of with a GSR or a type R. Those engines kill gas on the freeway..esp with a ctr tranny. Without a good tranny the b16b is pretty mush useless.
I paid $1400 for my whole swap....and though i usually swap myself, i had the full install done for me $500

Go with the CTR swap. Go with what you feel comfortable. It's your car don't let anyone influence in what you do to YOUR car
But the b16a is ob0 amd everything doesnt match up with a newer gen. They are meant for ef/ed's

meh, the last two i drove, sure did not impress me!!! For the same investment, you could get a jdm spec 1.8L gsr...pretty much the same hp....way more torque, and they can still be had with an oem lsd!!!! I think the ctr is a waste unless it's cheap!
if you want something reliable go with a gsr its fast and cheap and reliable the swap at most i seen here go for 2500 and for the b20v its a nice set up but it high maintience plus your gonna need to get it tuned so if i were you get a gsr swap and get some upgrades like I/H/E and a intake manifold or if you want to be really fast boost it

no more I-Vtec
