Crx for $100!!
I just wanted to post that i just purchased my second project car for $100 with a title! Its a Red 88 HF with no dents on it, the interior is already gutted and has no motor. I have $2,500 to spend on an engine swap that i can Turbocharge in the future. So that means i want to spend $2,500 just on the swap then buy a turbo kit in the future. I plan to use this car for street but mostly for the strip. Please help. thanks in advance.

with 2500 and plans to boost it id be looking at either a B18A or B20
either that or a built D16
id stick with the b series though. running low boost an a b20 should be just as quick (probably faster) than running high boost on a d16 and with high boost levels the chances of breaking stuff seems to go way up

$500 for a D16, $1000 for a junk yard turbo set up (best you can get imo), and $1000 on any engine management system, perfect set up. From other peoples set ups like that you will run about 13-14.5 sec 1/4 but not sure of the turbo sizes.
If you only plan on spending the 25 then D series is a good choice, you might be able to pull it off with only $2500 with the best engine management, but if you plan on boosting with the B series its going to cost a lot more then you'd expect.
you need to upgrade your suspension and brakes before you do an engine swap btw...without the upgrade your screwed, the HF hubs have to be changed anyway...
but it is a project car so that means you want it pretty fast.... go bseries... i went zc turbo for a while, then a rode my friends crx with b16 turbo and i almost shitted my pants.

crx for cheap =
Yeah i live in orlando and its hard to find crx's and hatchbacks for sale even under $1000 dollars, the demand for these cars is pretty ridiculous. Thats why i am taking advantage of this CRX and going to make something of its self!
Oh... and thanks for your imputs guys!! Well,,, I have decided to go with a B20 swap for now but will do a mild build for a turbo in the future.

since he said turbo LATER, I suggest a b series engine (b16/b20)
dont fall into wanting a couple of tenths right away, go for a bseries now and a turbo later...
mi dos centavos......ehhhhhhhhhhh

d16z6 can do a lot with turbo, but if you plan using it mostly on the track, to get better time, better acceleration and better top speed ( due to the b serie trany ) why don't you build a b20 or at least a b18b
