Default lsvtec pinging

i have a built lsvtec with some type-r pistons and at around 3000 to 4000 rpms im getting a little pinging noise i thought my header was just rattling but a buddy of mine told me it was my engine not getting enough gas and was causing the pinging so we retarded my time via turning the distributor it helped alot but its still does it a little and he told me to get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to bump up my fuel, before i burn a hole in a piston, but my question is this does this happen alot, will this fix the issue and is there anything else i could instead that is better

Go get it tuned. It does happen alot. How much timing are you running right now, and are u using a stock civic fpr or an integra one?

Just because it's chipped doesn't mean the maps are set to your build.

GET IT TUNED

I just realized you're entire post was one big run on sentence. Lol
Don't b lazy.
Dood. You can't time it by eye. Get a timing light, then jump the little connector inside the car and set timing to sixteen degrees. Your timing has to be off right now.
Don't b lazy.
Next get a fuel pressure gauge and check your pressure. If u have an integra regulator u should have 42 or 45 psi iirc. Civic will be 35 or 38 iirc. But don't get an adjustable fpr and just crank the **** out of it till the pinging goes away. You don't need more than 45. You can get more fuel from custom tuning, unless your injectors are too small, which is unlikely with your setup.
Don't b lazy.
You also need to degree your cams. I had to advance my skunk gears 14 degrees (7 marks) on the intake and 13 degrees (6.5 marks) on the exhaust cam to get it to the cam card specs. The difference in the way the engine ran was night and day. (I didn't degree the cams till after i installed and drove on the motor)

Your best bet is to take it to a competent shop and have the cams degreed in and a custom tune done. The car will run much, much better. Or if you want to b lazy and also a hack, just crank the fuel pressure sky high, retard the distributor to the stop and you're good to go.

well thanks i was thinking about doing that anyway, but i thought u only needed that if u replaced the cams and valves with aftermarket. i figured the pistons were ok and sorry about the run on sentences, i was trying to cut down space lol, another buddy of mine told me that i had to do all that u just listed
