Starting problem. Bad fuel pump?
Every so often my Sol has a problem starting. D16 with 194xxx miles, new plugs and wires with a kill switch. It will start up, idle around 1500 then sputter, drop, and die. I have to throw the kill switch and wait about 5 minutes then it will start up fine. I think it's either the dizzy or fuel pump. I'm leaning more towards the fuel pump because this happens if I park in an angled driveway and try to start it. Should I replace the pump and go from there? Can I drop the tank and clean it out at all?
Not lacking spark that I know of but I plan on doing the spark test tomorrow. As far as the kill switch goes, it's wired to the PGM-FI Main Relay fuse, not the fuel pump. I really need it in the area I live. Would a fuel pump kill be better?
The uninstall of the kill switch could be done temporarily in order to test whether it is the cause of your problem.
