Default how accurate are s300 base maps?

local tuner calls me off craigslist and wants to buy my s300. says hell give me cash plus a virgin p72. when I say no he gets mad and says that im better off running a factory p72 rather than a p72 base map on hondata. is he blowing smoke up my *** or what?

IMO, If you have a stock B18 engine then a stock P72 would be your better choice vs a base map. Now if you actually had the S300 tuned that's a different story. For a stock engine getting it tuned is a bit much.

I have a jdm b16a with pct pistons and a fully built head with stage 3 cams.

we were tamling through text and he was under the impression I still had my 98 jdm type r with stage 3 cams.

but anyways are the base maps on s300 identical to factory ecu's? if not then why say they are the actual base maps.

if their not accurate then I could possible load a supercharged b18c5 base map and it would run my motor as well as a p75 base map in smanager right?

The "stock p72" basemap is the same thing as a "stock p72 ecu".

Are they identical, maybe. Will they run a stock engine, yes. Will it be optimal without a tune, probably not. They are called base maps because that's exactly what they are. A base in which to start tuning from. If you have stage 3 cams and higher compression pistons an S300 base map is not going to run your car optimally without tuning.

Is this a serious question?

I never said they weren't accurate. I said that they wouldn't run a stock engine as well as a stock ECU without tuning.

I think it's time to hit the books!
Cheers

yeah you can tune a p72 if its chipped for ex like on Chrome.

but Depending on the build id say you can have a solid answer , hondata is another great upgrade but again like they said previously a TUNE is going to be effective with your setup

mtber answered your question up there ^^^

a stock p72 has a stock p72 basemap on it so if the stock p72 basemap is downloaded onto the ecu with the s300 in it then that ecu will act as a stock p72(reffering to fuel maps, sensors can be disabled by the s300 if needed).....somebody correct me if i'm wrong
