Default Throttle Dependent Surging.

Hi All,

My 00 Prelude is having an odd issue that developed mid road trip.

The issue is not gear or speed dependent, it happens in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. It happens when I am accelerating and is worse in higher gears. It sounds like a thumping noise coming from the front passenger side. Initially I thought it was a loose piece of plastic underneath the car coming loose.

I have reset the ECU and cleaned the air filter. This has helped the problem slightly but it has not fixed it.

My next steps were to verify that spark plugs were not horrible and to check the MAF/MAP sensor voltages.

Any suggestions or advice would be helpful.

Its not surging at idle, only at speed.

Sounds like you have an axle going bad to me, probably ripped the boot and lost grease, and /or got dirt inside.
