Is the input shaft from b16 and b18 trannys interchangeable?
does anyone know if the input shaft between the b16 and b18 trannys are interchangeable? and if its better for performance?
better performance??? no, it would be a complete waste of time
You could change the final drive of your existing tranny if interested in a different gear ratio

ok well im having a transmission prob i think is the input shaft. it goes in to every gear fine but when i let off the clutch it goes nowhere.
id rather just replace the input shaft if i can.

because the car doesnt move and im not paying to have someone look at something i can fix. nor can i afford to tow it if i wanted to.
also a honda dealer wouldnt touch it because its a swap.
if it was a throwout bearing would it cause this prob?

Its in all likelyhood not the input shaft, it would literally have to be broken in half or the splines for the clutch would have to be sheared off. This tranny, is it in the '91 hatch? What did you use for a clutch? B16 cable trannys and '90 - '91 integras use a small spline input shaft, '92+ use the larger style. '92+ clutch on small spline tranny = clutch thats not splined to the mainshaft, which also leads to no movement.
what else could it be if its not the input shaft?
someone i know threw around the idea that a puck might have broken off but i doubt that. its an act stage 3, 3-puck clutch

sorry that wasnt me that posted that, i left my account logged onto my buddys computer so im not sure who posted it. ive been lazy and havent even gotten the transmission off yet but i seriously am starting to doubt its the input shaft because of how hard it would be to break the splines or strip them.
Probably should have asked this earlier, but does the speedometer move when you let the clutch out? If so then its an axle problem, if not its a clutch or transmission problem.
If only the cv shafts werent already out and had more than two bolts left until the trannys cracked
I wish i would have thought about that now... But the whining noise definitely sounds like its coming from the tranny no doubt about it. A little bit better of a background. B18a. stage 1 brian crower internals, lightweight underdrive pulley and flywheel. stage 3 ACT 3 puck clutch. Cable driven JDM J1 transmission. Im the owner of the car, i was down shifting into second to slow down to a stop sign, foot slipped off the clutch, the cars got a **** ton of snappiness to it so i popped the clutch, heard a loud POP, then realized no matter what gear i was in, i wasnt moving. Never thought to check the speedo in all honestly, stupid me. You can hear something rubbing against the clutch and when you press the pedal to the floor it sounds absolutely awful, it wasnt any grinding or crunching noises, just loud whining rubbing. As soon as i get the bitch pin off the shift linkage I'm going to take off the last mount bracket and cracking it. dun dun dunnn.
