My car is a 92 Honda Civic Si
Ok, so I got home one afternoon and parked my car in my driveway. About an hour later I got back in my car because I needed to make a trip to the store. My car did not start and still will not start no matter what i do.
Prior to the incident my car rarely would have problems until recently. I would try and turn the key to start it. It did nothing, not even crank. I took the key out the ignition and waited about maybe 4-5 seconds. I put the key back in and cranked it and it started up with ease.
I have been experiencing that randomly more frequently.
So this is what I have done to see and diagnose this:
I took the starter off to see if it was the starter. I took it off and tested it off the car it was fine. I put the starter back on.
I then Jerry rigged the starter straight to the battery and started it up. It STARTED up no prob. So the problem was NOT THE STARTER.
My uncle thought it would be the ignition. so we took the electrical part off and bought a new one. Put that on and tried to crank it and it wouldnt crank. NOT THE ELECTRICAL PART OF THE INGNITION.
So now were stumped on what it could be. I was thinking it was the clutch switch but I am clueless to which one it is. My car has 2, a yellow and white. That or I was thinking it could be the ECU? could it be? Anyone have any ideas as to what could the problem be? THANKS GUYS

more than anything it could be the main relay. but the clutch switch could be going bad as well. also if it had an alarm it could be the heat messing up the relay that cuts off the starter signal.

@B2ON2o - how do you bypass the clutch switch? I am a noob at this.
@spoon_fed_civic - wouldnt the main relay just deal with the fuel and the fuel pump? I can hear the fuel pump priming so i dont think thats the problem.
I was thinking of installing an s2000 push button start for now, unsure though

Im gonna try swapping relays to see if that could do the trick and I'm deff. gonna swap out the clutch switch too. I just gotta return this electrical harness for the ignition back for a refund.

thanks hondawhiz, started up first crank after the bypass. now I have to return the ignition harness i bought. Also another question. My Speedometer isnt working, its going all over the place. I swaped the speed sensor and that didnt do anything. I do know that I have a small crack on the dizzy cap but its only on the part where the screw goes in. I am leaking a massive amount of oil from the distributor o ring but to lazy to fix it. What could it be? the Gauge cluster or something to do with the O ring/dizzy cap? THANKS IN ADVANCE. hahaahaha
no its the cluster that goes bad on those cars. and get a new o ring for your dizzy. any drop of oil is bad. and eventually its going to cause other problems. like messing up the heater hose under the dizzy.
