Alright trying to help someone out. A friend just recently swapped a b16a2 into his EK hatch and cane seem to get it started.

I guess i should provide some info... Its a b16a2 with a gsr trans. chipped p28 with stepdown harness
new thermostat
new mishimoto colder fan switch
new bosch spark plugs
new rywire dizzy stepdown harness
new tranny mount from honda
new starter
new slave cylinder

Some things that have been ruled out... It get fuel and spark, timing is fine.

Is it trying to start at all, like jumping and misfiring, if so maybe double check the injector plugs are in the right sequence, check you got ALL the grounds on also

Have you put in a little starting fluid in to see if it will at lease start up that way?

 

bro the most common problem with this could be that the map and tps sensors are backwards, or that the fuel rail is different and was a side input fuel rail, so gasoline isnt going any further than the fuel line. trust.

 

i will have to try those 2 things tomorrow... its really killin me lol.

 

sounds just like the b16a2 i put in my 99 a couple weeks back.

mine the dizzy was wired wrong and wasnt getting no spark.

check by taking a spark plug and hold it on the head and see if its getting spark.

 

he told he had spark but ill double check tomorrow afternoon when i go there.

 

did a compression test for him today and it was low across the board. 50-80 on all 4 cylinders.

 

Is the mechanical timing way off?

Are the cylinders flooded with fuel?

How did you do the compression test?

 

he said he took the spark plugs out, put the tester in and tried to start the car allowing it to crank or turn over 5 times. I havent been able to look at the car yet so im just going off the info hes giving me. He said someone else looked at the timing and said it was good but when i asked him to send me a pic this is what he sent.

Ok so today we went and rented a compression tested again so we can do a wet test. The wet test seemd to go alot better, cyl 1-2 got 130-150, but cyl 3-4 got 90. He said the car also sounded like it wanted to start this time when he attempted to start it. I should have a new vid soon.

check the valve lash if the valve are to tight they can stay open and or change the profile of the cam adjust valves and redo compression test.

 

and if you do have the map sensor backward you can see it on the data list during cranking and or with key on engine off and step on pedal and see if the voltage changes

 

If you guys took the distributor off, it could be that its 180* out of phase, you'd still get spark, but it would be firing at the wrong time

 

make sure the spark plugs are in the right order!!!!!
