I have a 98 accord DX Manual and I'm swapping in an f23a1 which had an automatic transmission. I just removed the flywheel from the DX and went to put it on the new engine but their's like a dowel on the crank which isnt allowing me to put the flywheel on. anyone know what the solution is?
My F22 has a dowel pin in it so i would say find a flywheel from a same year car or better yet you should upgrade your flywheel and clutch while you have it all apart. I got my fordged flywheel and heavyduty pressure plate and copper ceramic clutch disc for about three hundy on E-bay from gripforce clutches.
Boy, some people... don't know the difference between a crankshaft and a flywheel. Grinding is one method, and vice grips work too, and if you are really good you can weld on something to be able to use a puller, as noted in another post. If you take the engine apart, you can whang on it from the back side using a hammer and chisel.
Best.
