Got a safety recall notice today
I got a letter from Honda today for a safety recall on all 97-99 preludes for a faulty ignition switch. It says it can fail prematurly and cause the vehicle to die while driving. just thought i wold let ya'll know
I got that too, made the appointment to get it fixed next wednesday. This was my conversation with the service rep.
Me- uhhh yeah I got a recall notice about the ignition switch in a 98 Prelude.
him- ummm its already been fixed
me- no, it hasn't I got a service recall in the mail concerning the ignition switch.
Him-oh you got a service recall in the mail.
Me- yeah
him- ok when do you wanna bring it in?
me- next wednesday at 8:00.
him- ok we'll see you then bye.
me- you lil ****** j/k
This dealership is one of the Chevy-Ford-Acura-Honda dealer ships, so I wouldn't be surprise if they try to throw a Ford switch as the replacement, or
-I probably end up bring my car in at 8:00 am and giving it to the the entire day, and then I'll get a phone call at 5:00 pm stating that they don't have the switch.
and they need to keep the car until Friday cus they ripping the car apart.
50/50 chance one of these scenarios occurs.

got one too.... to bad my Lude's up on jack stand (people keep coming up to me and asking why it's on "blocks") it's all good though, one of my best friends in an Acura serivce consultant. he get's me the hook up. i bet i can even get those guys to install my turbo timer for free since they'll be messin with the ignition switch anyways....hehehehe
I have a '98 and it does not show any signs of such. But if i were to call the dealership and tell them I got a letter in the mail (which i did not) and i want to bring my car in, would they charge for something like that? Just wanted to know...thanks...

They might give you a free certificate for an oil change or better yet test drive an S2k.
I got my recall fixed today. I honestly have no idea as to what they did, I know they obviously replaced the ignition switch. Oh I had a conversation with the fool the drives the cars around to give them to the customers.
Him: here ya go.
Me: thanks
Him: what have ya done to it.
Me: Intake, Exhaust, and full suspension
him: oh.
I know it was a point conversation, just trying to be dumb.

I had something similar happen with a valet parker once... heard him coming around the corner with my car as he pulled up with a smile on his face, opened the door for me, and as i got into the car he smiled and said "nice carrrr" (and yes he rolled the R with a spanish accent..) since then i dont valet my car anymore.. lol
